Artist's Comments
This piece is representative of domestic violence... in particular the contrast between the horror of the home and the tendancy for the victim to strive to appear "normal" to the outside world.
The piece is made out of a miniature doll suitcase. On the outside is a neat, clean, bright, idyllic home with photos of the Cleavers and happy, "perfect" families visible through wide, open windows. The idea is to contrast a suitcase and the idea of leaving with the concept of "home" and a desire to maintain family unity. |
